Hi all

Phil Whyman reporting details of my second week of the fundraiser challenge.
After a great start things got a bit disappointing to be honest, as I only managed to lose 2lbs in the 2nd week…BUT, I was ill all of that time, as anyone who saw me would tell; rotten head cold/flu thing which meant I had to be sensible about eating and not cut out too much…Sorry about that folks, feel I have let people down.

Glad to report though that I am now 100% better and ready to push on…so onwards & upwards me thinks; I am hoping for a major improvement!

Total weight lost in 2 weeks: 12lbs approximately.

CLIC Sargent Charity Challenge: Update 1

Hi all

As some of you may be aware I am currently doing a fundraising challenge for CLIC Sargent Childrens Cancer charity, who offer fantastic support to not only children who have cancer, but also for their family and relatives too.

My challenge involves me attempting to lose a HUGE 3 stone of weight in TWO MONTHS.

I stated on my fundraising page http://www.justgiving.com/phil-whyman/ that I would post regular updates about how I am doing since starting the challenge on 4th April 2011, so here is the first update for you.

END OF WEEK 1
Okay, I have been doing the challenge now for exactly a week (hooray!). The first couple of days were probably the most difficult – as in any weight loss program I would assume! – but I have to say that after these first couple of days I have found it relatively easy to get into! Getting into the right frame of mind is important, and hopefully I can maintain that throughout the remaining 7 weeks (or whatever it is until 6th June!).

Treadmill
I have been using my treadmill on and off over the past week for periods of about 20-30 minutes, mainly because of cramps/tightening in my calf muscles. I can REALLY tell I have not done any proper jogging or running: this is in stark contrast to what I used to do in the gym: 7-8 miles a day!
I will be stepping up the treadmill work from here on in!

Food
I have not been eating anything special really on my challenge, jusat eating more sensibly.
Gone is the toast and jam (with wads of butter!) for breakfast, now replaced by the odd boiled or scrambled egg or maybe a run of the mill protein drink which also contains multi-vitamins.

Also out are the snacks which used to get munched during the day; now have a couple of bags of dried apple, figs or dates which I take the odd piece from! Dried figs are actually really nice!
For main meals I am either getting a chicken and cooking it (so I can add pieces to salads), or am eating fish/shellfish. Plenty of water / low-calorie drinks too; flavoured carbonated water is great, and tastes MUCH better than your corporation wine (tap water!).

NO BEER or alcoholic beverages either!

Weight lost in WEEK 1
Ok…now the important part: how much weight have I lost in WEEK 1?
I mentioned on my official fundraising page that I would give an honest and true account of my weight loss, which is what I shall do! (I will round up to the nearest pound (lb) for you).

So far I have lost: 10lb (not too bad really, but hope to improve that in the coming week…a challenge within a challenge!).

2011 EVENTS BEING ADDED NOW!!!

Hi all
We are now starting to add to our events calendar 2011, and as usual we aim to bring you the best in ghost hunting events once more.

SOME QUICK FACTS ABOUT OUR EVENTS

FACT: Our events are held at what many believe to be some of the most haunted venues the UK has to offer, all with a wealth of history as far as hauntings and ghosts are concerned. It gives you the optimum chances of experiencing something of a paranormal nature; we do not hold our events at locations such as Uncle Cedric or Aunty Mabel’s home, just because they have heard a creak or two at night once in a blue moon!

FACT: We do not fake activity, NEVER have and NEVER will.
When our crew are taken onboard DH we ask them to sign up to the Dead Haunted Pledge (see next FACT).

FACT: DH crew DO NOT take part in our event experiments, unlike some companies.
We DO supervise and advise you when YOU take part in the experiments. This is done so that our valued customers (that’s YOU guys reading this!) have complete peace of mind when it comes to DH events; if anything happens during experiments you can rest assured that it is NOT the DH crew making things happen. This forms part of the Dead Haunted Pledge to our customers.

ALDERMASTON MANOR, Fri 13th

Our first event at ALDERMASTON MANOR in Berkshire was a resounding success (did anyone really doubt it? lol).
We have had some great feedback, so many thanks for taking the time to do that!

We hope to be returning there in 2011 for some more spooky goings-on…So keep your eyes open!

FORT AMHERST, Friday 13th!

Hi all.
Well, we just held our first ever event at Fort Amherst in Kent AND WHAT A VENUE!
Loads of atmospheric places / tunnels to investigate, massive vigil areas and plenty to choose from…Oh yes, it was active too!

Looking forward to heading back there in November for a second go at the place…Why not join us?

Morecambe with MH: What a night!!!

Well what can I say?

On Saturday 24th July we held our Most Haunted at Morecambe Winter Gardens Theatre SPECIAL EVENT…and WHAT A NIGHT!
Yvette, Karl, Cath, Fred and myself (Phil, lol) had a great time meeting all those who attended and looking at the comments that have been posted on this BLOG we were certainly not alone! All of the Most Haunted crew had a fantastic night with our guests who took part in the event and we really did have some great moments together.

MANY, many thanks to those who attended and made this SPECIAL EVENT even more SPECIAL!

A huge thanks also to our friends from Most Haunted for contributing to a tremendously successful night!

LANGLEY PRIORY, Leicestershire – June 26th 2010

- what ghostly activity lurks within this private home? -The history of LANGLEY PRIORY is an ancient and varied one, giving this privately owned property plenty of time to acquire something otherworldly…

HISTORY
Founded by William Pantulf in AD 1154, Langley Priory – which was of the Benedictine order – remained an important part of the local area, until Henry VIII’s Dissolution of the Monasteries in 1536.

As with so many buildings of this type during the Dissolution, the original structure that was Langley Priory was torn down. The two wings of the present house were built in 1570 by re-using the Norman stone from the ruined Castle at Donington, itself said to be a very haunted location. Further building work saw the middle section linking the two wings being built in 1690, with a Victorian annexe being added to the North Wing in 1888.

There is no doubting that Langley Priory is a beautiful building, and was described in the 1840’s as “one of the finest manorial type houses in Leicestershire”. The house is home to a fine collection of sixteenth century tapestries and some beautiful medieval stained glass.

Langley Priory is a Grade II* listed building, and remains a private family home.

*Both Phil and Sara recently visited Langley Priory at the request of the owner, and and came back genuinely excited at the prospect of investigating this location.

GHOSTS & HAUNTINGS
With all the history that Langley Priory has seen, it may come as no surprise to hear that there are many a strange and unexplained incident happening within…and outside too.
It is not often that we are personally asked to consider a location for our events, and to help uncover what is happening. Dead Haunted and you – our guests – will be very much setting a precedence here, helping to document and record for the very first time just what it is that goes bump in the night at Langley Priory…Join us on this fascinating adventure.

THE BURIED MAN
Langley Priory has seen many deaths over the years, and indeed there are countless bodies buried just beyond its welcoming doors; many of them would have been nuns who very often lived their whole lives here.
During recent works outside in the grounds the body of a male was accidentally excavated. He was reburied in the garden, and you can see his marker to this day.
Nobody is sure who this is, but has disturbing him from his slumber caused any paranormal activity? We’ll find out during our visit.

THE ANCIENT DISUSED WING
One particularly spooky and chilling area of Langley Priory is an ancient and disused wing, which we will have access too during our investigation; it is very much in the same condition as it was hundreds of years ago…who knows what or who still resides within its walls?

THE ATTIC
Lurking within the upper recesses of Langley Priory are the attic rooms. These rooms alone are enough to send a shiver down the spine, and that is during the daytime. At night and in the darkness what strange and mysterious things will come out to play?

THE CELLAR
During our events we have seen many cellars. They are often a hive of paranormal activity, and often that activity can be frightening (Peterborough Museum springs to mind here!)…and Langley Priory has one too. This is one area we are all looking forward to conducting our vigils and experiments.
